Paul was born and raised in a small town outside Boston, Massachusetts, went to college at Duke University, and to law school in Chapel Hill, NC. Paul always wanted to work for himself, and opened his own law office in 1982, shortly after passing the bar. He remained a sole practitioner until 2003, when Reni and Banks was formed. He practices exclusively in the area of family law.
Paul met his wife Ann at Duke; they moved to Seattle, sight unseen, in 1982, days after they got married, and have been here together ever since. They have 3 young adult children (almost done paying for college!) who live in the local area. Paul is a sports nut who spent years coaching all his kids in soccer, basketball, and baseball. These days he spends that free time playing his own games - golf and tennis.
